Visually, it was absolutely perfect. The sets, the costumes, the tone, the performances…as a fan of the books, it's still a marvel to look at. The problem stemmed purely from trying to cram three books into one movie, while half-assedly inserting the VFD mysteries.
I honestly think Jim Carrey was PERFECT casting for

I saw Inside-Out and it was beautiful. One of the most creative films I've ever seen, and the animation of the emotion-characters was the closest I've ever seen to capturing the whimsy of classic Looney Toons/Disney cartoons. And damned if I didn't cry. A couple of times.
Pixar is back, bitches.

I played through The Last of Us on grounded (remastered edition) for my first playthrough. I can't imagine playing it any other way. The ridiculous difficulty, resource management and lack of any sort of HUD made the game that much realer. Every enemy encounter was nightmarishly intense, and overall it really sealed

I've been waiting for The Last Guardian since I knew it existed; Shadow of the Colossus is maybe my all-time favorite game (and of course ICO is wonderful, too), so I'm beyond excited to experience more of that world, atmosphere and tone. You gotta love how the trailer made sly homages to ICO and SotC.
Other than

That made me profoundly sad.

I hope he tells Obama about what it was like to film his bit in Almost Famous, or that one time he interacted with Lorne Michaels.

…the new console is for playing new games that weren't technically possible on your previous console, right? I agree that neither the PS4 nor XBOX-One have made a particularly strong identity for their consoles, outside of stronger tech. Nintendo, for all their flack, always has a new KIND of console, which is why

People also are unfair toward Nintendo in that the announcement of a new entry in their main franchises is still a big deal. We haven't had a new Metroid game (not counting this weird spinoff they've announced) since 2009. The number of Assassin's Creed games that have come out in that time outnumber the amount of

I understand the spirit of the article, but the writer fundamentally misunderstands backward compatibility. He's applying the right argument to the wrong topic. Backward compatibility is as simple as this: when you get a new iPhone, you want to be able to keep all the photos and music you had on your previous iPhone.

Brave is VERY underrated. I'll concede that it's not on the same level as their masterpieces (and I do wish it was a bit darker, as the trailer made it out to be) but I feel like we live in a time when if something doesn't meet expectations it's automatically the worst shit ever. And that's not fair. There's a lot to

My brain just doesn't register plot holes in movies (which is why when I notice them I know they're SUPER glaring). I tend to just really try to get absorbed in the world of the movie. So I really dug Prometheus. It was really ambitious, looked incredible, and the fact that it asked more questions than it answered was

There are dozens of us who like Prometheus! Dozens!

What's he hiding under that hat, I wonder?

I don't find him offensively unfunny or anything—he has pretty good material on WU, and he knows how to deliver a joke. It's just that he has nothing interesting about him: no unique perspective, no real distinct sensibility or point of view. He's like a baby wanna-be Seth Meyers. And he has no chemistry with Che.
Weird

I totally understand where you're coming from. I'll just have to see the movie. I was pissed at the reaction to the Avengers in the same way you are to the Jurassic Park reactions…what were people expecting, and what movie were people watching? The movie was just pure joy; stupid, superhero joy. I'm not sure what sort

Josh Holloway would make a way better Indiana Jones. I love Pratt, but I don't understand that casting.

3. People getting killed by dinosaurs in creative/upsetting ways

Village is an under-rated movie *dodges tomatoes* LET ME FINISH. If you watch it again knowing the twist, you realize that there's some really great performances and stunning cinematography in that thing. And some genuine suspense. Is the twist still kind of lame? Kinda. But I like that it's sort of about a

…Is she? She's not Jessica Chastain (allegedly) but she's not *bad* in anything I've seen her in. I mean, Lady in the Water is a bad movie, but not because of her.

" one was directed by one of the most skilled directors in the history of cinema and the other was not?"
