Martha doesn't want no KGB omelette. That shit is crossing the line!

And here I always thought it was because God had already given penguins impeccable fashion sense…
For a bunch of forest critters, The Raccoons had a surprisingly, technologically advanced society.
The coroner was pretty witty.
oh yeah, thanks for reminding me.
Yeah, that's why I prefaced with "I'm not entirely sure". I'm pretty sure Harbard is the physical manifestation of some deity but I'm not sure which one. You are correct in that, in the sagas Harbard is a personification of Odin. Not sure on the show though.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think we're meant to understand Harbard as a physical personification of Loki, whereas Floki is inhabited by the spirit of Loki. Hence, the psychic visions Floki is having of Aslaug.
The best gender flipped analogue to Girls I can think of is Trailer Park Boys. In both series we're presented with objectively awful people who we're supposed to root for. However, TPB has a thread of communitarian values that justifies the main characters' assorted asshattery. TPB is a show about dicks vs assholes,…
The art vs commerce debate does come up a bit in season 3, so I could see that as being annoying for you. Likewise, I'll restrain myself from reiterating Jane Jacobs' ideas about the origins of art.
If you enjoyed Curb Your Enthusiasm, you should watch anything by Ken Finkleman. The original, Canadian, non-shitty The Newsroom is a fucking tour-de-force.
Girls really doubles down on the awfulness of it's characters as it moves forward. I really enjoyed the first two seasons but I swore off the show after season 4.
In the very closing shot, I couldn't help but wonder if Philip was just "making it real".
Yeah I wasn't aware there was a weight criteria for covering transitioning under healthcare. But, health care coverage can vary from province to province. I'm not a health care policy analyst but Canada can be behind the times in terms of what is and what is not covered. Circumcision was covered by most provincial…
Yeah that was confusing to me too. They really should have made episode a two parter in order to give all the characters some space.
To hate-watch Girls or love-watch Letterkenny? Decisions, decisions…
Evelyne Brochu is now one of the leads on X Company, a fucking fantastic show I highly recommend. She's not as glamorous on X Company, but she kills Nazis real good.
There was a show up here in Canada called Strange Empire which not only showed a relationship between woman and a trans man, but also featured a First Nations woman in the lead role. But it got no press, and got cancelled after a season. There are shows that represent different characters and stories out there, just…
I don't think they could have developed the couple too much, could they? The show is still a mystery at it's core. If you develop the murderer character(s) too much, then you foreshadow the big reveal. Likewise, the red herrings will very evidently smell like red herrings, simply because they get less screen time.
So I read Psycho Lesbian page you referred to. There were some good examples on there, so thx much. However, I saw it really as two distinct tropes; the "misandric, aggressive lesbian" and the "jilted, vengeful lesbian". They are both tropes that exist, but I still don't see the "jilted, vengeful lesbian" as being…
Does anyone have any other examples of the "evil lesbian" trope? I'm well aware of the "gay man as a psycho murderer" trope. But other than a real person like Valerie Solonas, and maybe the movie Wild Things, I'm not remembering any cultural depictions of "evil lesbians".
