Yeah you're right. I was sure it would happen this episode what with us being introduced to Chekov's bag of dope a couple of weeks ago, but you're right: it's better to wait until next season and deal with it properly.

"He has no ambition, no energy. He will not go out of his way to verify is own solutions. He would rather be considered wrong than go out of his way to prove himself right"
Could it be they were both desperately vying for their father's validation/praise? All things considered, they've both turned out all right (heroin addiction aside, they're very bright, high-achieving, reasonably morally grounded), especially if their father is as massive a piece of shit as they imply he is.
"The guy was Iranian and a spy for the government which presumably means he is to some degree an Islamic fundamentalist"
Well, they were extraordinarily lucky not to get killed last time. They've been extraordinarily lucky not to get killed several times. Mycroft is understandably unaware that they are living in a TV procedural, their destinations pre-determined by the divine hands of the writing staff
It looks like Jim Norton will be back next season, which means there's still hope that Sherlock will get to kick Bishop Brennan up the arse at some point. And if not we still get to hear his magnificent voice. Yay!!!
The problem Elementary faces in its second season is that Sherlock and Joan’s relationship isn’t really changing anymore….
A relapse should be enough to convince his father to buy it, right?
don't call it that
hmmm. Well i guess it's sort of a riff on 221B…
as in 221B Baker Street
I've been thinking about this a while, given the themes of this season. Could it be possible to convert The Brownstone into two separate apartments? I'm not up with NYC building codes, architecture or heritage ordinances, but could Joan live upstairs? Put in a second bathroom, put a kitchenette in the living area…
Next week: Sherlock dances with Mr Brownstone
***cough*** ONE
Yeah we got a not-so-subtle reminder that Joan has trust issues again as well
Prediction for final episode: Sherlock kicks Bishop Brennan up the arse!
I'm glad it's not just me. Way too much cheese - the dialogue felt lazily written and the emotional beats were massively on the nose. Even the musical cues felt like they were laying it on a bit thick. What happened?
I think the most apt comparison is what he did in M. . Not much of a stretch to assume he would completely lose his shit if something happened to Joan, and seeing as he isn't viewing the situation through the eyes of a TV procedural viewer, there's a very real chance of her getting killed in this episode.
Attic theory!
Life imitates art, and vice-versa. I see no reason why it can't be a coincidence. In fact, actor-relapsing-after-30-years-sober-and-dying-of-overdose-after-fight-with-son-who-never-forgave-him-for-leaving-his-wife-for-a-dude is quite a different story to what happened to Phillip Seymour-Hoffman. Plus it resonates…
Anyone want to weigh in on whether Derry was a monstrous pun, given the procedural plot?
