Syfy turned into an all-James Nguyen network so gradually I didn't even notice.

"The Lord of Stories learns that one must change or die, and makes his choice."  (Neil Gaiman, giving the shortest possible version of The Sandman)

@avclub-8f760a47611a6bcba9cf971b5f7bcc5b:disqus :  I'll field this one.  It's from the movie Schizopolis, and if somehow you haven't seen it, you have something to do tonight.

Outland, dammit.

Can't argue with anything you said there, @avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus ; on a large-scale level of storytelling, it's incoherent, but on a moment-to-moment level of pacing, editing, and framing, it has some of Peckinpah's best work.  (The pivotal scene you mention in the review is what I'm thinking

This site, or better yet the Site That Shall Not Be Named Here, needs to do an article on that film (no, not the recent one), right the fuck now.

You seem disappointed that he wasn't a real card, again.

". . .and the guy says, 'you're telling me, I have an eagle on my head!' No wait, I told it wrong. Oh, it's the horse who says, 'then why do you have an Indian up your ass?' No, that still doesn't seem right."

I would totally watch a show called Suitwearing Authoritarian Assholes.  It could be about Aceveda, Bill Buchanan from 24, and Jack Bristow from Alias teaming up and starting a private security firm.  (Chloe and Marshall would be the bickering tech support team.)

SPOILERS CONTINUE

Shane is impulsive, and does some stupid things, but he's not so stupid that he's going to walk into a car dealership with banded blocks of perfectly clean $100s (possibly sequentially numbered) to buy Mara a car.  One of the important plot points in these episodes is that Vic is being way more impulsive and dangerous

I'm with you.  Those things are there, but they're never the focus of the show.  The story (and I keep seeing it as a universal story) is the main focus.

THE CORRUPT YET VIBRANT SPOILER DISTRICT OF THE COMMENTS

“We’re gonna talk about this later too.”  “Yeah.”

I hear them in the voice of Elmo Oxygen, because many of your posts make sense out of yesterday.

Further Shield warning sticker/message:  DO NOT BEGIN WATCHING IF YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH.  SERIOUSLY.

Most of San Diego wouldn't, I'm sure.

I was going to say Velvet Underground minus John Cale, but I like this analogy better.
