Funnily enough, although anachronistic this might be an allusion to the event detailed at the link, which was also attended by Quebec separatists (presuming Émile to be one, and perhaps a member of one of the organizations that eventually merged to form the Parti Québécois):

I had sworn that all of the allusions to death this season would bring us to an Apollo 1 reference somewhere, but alas. Wrong again.

Agreed. And I think this echoes Todd's comments about Weiner's direction. A little formalism goes a long way in the Mad Men stylistic approach, but the shot of the five of them - and of Don walking away from the commercial set - were just too self-conscious and on the nose. And the staging of Megan talking with her…

I'm impressed that apparently there's so many night owls who are able to leave hundreds of coherent and thoughtful comments before I get up in the morning. The strange thing about that throwaway line - or perhaps the historical research is that bang on - is that Émile, the Marxist professor, would have likely been speaking at the University of Regina, which was one of the most left-wing hotbeds in Canadian academe in the late '60s. So either somebody really, really…

For the love of God, CAN ANYBODY ANSWER THESE???

Really, really late to the game, sadly. Probably too late to point out (or to point out perhaps redundantly) that Rick Wakeman did not sing on Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Here is, for better or for worse, an example of his singing:
