As someone who lives in an area of the country with a preponderance of rednecks, allow me to define the term "redneck" as a redneck would. A redneck (in areas with high populations of the species) is a person with a propensity for fisticuffs or other violent behavior, especially in combination with adult beverages.

I'll just say this about Bakshi's LOTR: When I watched it on VHS in the early 80's I thought "When will someone make a good movie adaptation of Tolkien's masterpiece. It would be awesome! This crap sucks!"

Godzirra? Did you say Godzirra?!!!

1953.
I'm one of the oldest to have posted here, and all you young'uns that are complaining about how old you are should consider the alternative.

@Hmm
I think to more accurately convey your absolute disdain and/or contempt for *insert subject here* you might use the phrase "There is no possible way in hell I could care any less about these two pathetic assholes".

Well, I thought the book was pretty good. Lisbeth, of course is the best thing in the book, though I think someone with the personality Larrson gave her would be mighty rare in the real world.

"With the help of four captive gods"
How much help could a god be if you could hold him/her captive?

Seriously
Is this guy's boss named Barney Miller?

@cauda—morley's comments are accurate as far as the style of writing. There are historical references to famous personages of the early 1800s, such as Napoleon, the Duke of Wellington, and Lord Byron, but they are used somewhat as plot devices in most cases.

For comparison, I am currently reading "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell", a much better tale about magic (IMHO) than " The Magicians".

I read "The Magicians" and didn't care much for it. It seemed to chronicle the pseudo interesting lives of a bunch of spoiled brats, except for Alice.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain…

There's precious few places to find new and interesting music these days without spending a lot of time listening to samples on lala or amazon. I'll agree that car commercials do seem to have the most interesting music (at least in commercials).
It's not that I can't find the music if I hear it, it's just that I don't

iRandy: Alternative (country or rock) is called that because it is an alternative to the crap on "mainstream"(?) stations. Like Neko Case is pegged as "alt-country" on some music download sites, although I would just call her genre "good music". This genre might include any number of different bands that play music I

Damn, I just read that account of Kirtie McColl's death.

Ditto Ray. I just listened to Walter Beasley and I thought it was Kenny G.
That sucks.

There are a few 'independent' radio stations that still play worthwhile music. Lightning 100 in Franklin, Tennessee is one of them

Well, always remember this
A kiss is just a kiss
And if you're not thinking 'bout pussy
You just ain't concentrating

Speak for yourself PH.

Nice one,Warren.
