I honestly don't think Phantom is a terrible movie. But I clearly remember when I first saw it in the theater, and the curtain rolled up, and I had this sinking feeling because it just wasn't that great, either. I can understand why people turned on it.

I'm so happy Diamond re-released most of the old Mego Star Trek figures a few years back. Such fun toys. I think they reissued the Apes figures, too.
As an '80s kid, I thought anything '70s seemed hopelessly old and looked GRUNGY. I hated the styles. Looking back, man, the film often did have a washed out quality. Of course, I appreciate it more now. The first Apes movie, though, and others '60s staples like Batman and Star Trek intrigued me. I guess they seemed…
