I could never view the first Highlander as anything but great, certainly due in large part to nostalgia. I'm sure some people think it's crap, but I'd say overall it has a favorable impression.

Then you Highlander 3, a weak retread of the first film.

Definitely, It's a standalone anime that offers its own take on the mythos and does some great stuff with it.

You know Highlander 2 is BAD, but Highlander 3 is just boring. In a strange way, I prefer 2 over 3 for the sheer spectacle of the audacity.

The TV Series retcons the ending of the first movie to not be the battle for the Prize, or for Connor to be THE ONE. So it carries over the characters and most of the events, but it set in a slightly different timeline. They had to, or there wouldn't have been a show.

Yeah, it definitely sounds less appealing once you know the whole story!

I don't recall that, but Highlander 3 was also depicted as being the REAL battle for the PRIZE with only Connor and Kane left. So, like the first movie, it could exist in two places at once (one being retconned to fit the TV universe).

And let me editorialize, I think the only Highlander entries that are actually GOOD are the first movie, The Series and The Search for Vengeance, which was unexpectedly AWESOME.
