I think the problem you describe (Harrison losing interest) is a problem with the script. Once they head off for Akator, Indy is JUST THERE. He's along for the ride and doesn't do a whole lot accept for react to things that happen to him. It doesn't feel like he's leading the adventure. Compare it to the earlier scene
