There's, like, two of us in the whole world, so that's actually pretty feasible.

Yep. Didn't feel like getting a round of "Keep your politics out of this!"-type comments, but … yep.

Other than that one dude who got into some super-legalistic parsing of my Movementarians review, then took me to task for making too fine distinctions in response … eh, I'm good.

I liked that part too! Shame they had something like "Nightmare in Silver," though, which is an okay episode but does pretty much just write Clara as Amy (which I think Neil Gaiman has said was because he didn't have adequate time to rewrite it for the new companion). But yeah, if you ignore all the many, many times

She was Trojan, but yeah.

Quality of the stories aside, I think bringing Martha back (and having the Doctor address his mistakes with respect to her in "Partners In Crime") went a long way to smoothing over the bumpiness of their interactions in series 3. There was actually some unfinished character-related business there, and I appreciated

Oh, I've long since learned that. I was more just confused than anything else.

I think we just fundamentally disagree on this (which is fine!). If the BBC officially announces something, then I just don't see it as a spoiler anymore, because then it's just entertainment news. The AV Club's Newswire doesn't have any particular responsibility to protect people from spoilers, though it does go the

I've read those same reports. The former always sounded really specious, like it was basically based on nothing other than a person happening to visit Cardiff. The latter was a bit more plausible, but what has since been officially announced about the finale feels like it's unlikely.

They hid Julian Bleach's return as Davros this season. And I'm guessing there are some still unannounced surprises in store for the cast of "Hell Bent." Basically, it's possible to keep one-off guest stars secret, especially when there's no location filming. But big stuff like regular actors joining or leaving the

I don't really see that, in the sense that "Who will play the Doctor and companion in this/the next season?" is so basic that it's impossible to not know that if you engage with online media, like, at all. Besides, the BBC announced Jenna Coleman was leaving, so it's not as though they judged it was a spoiler.

I can certainly see a way that Rose's return would have been nice, but in execution I thought it was pretty dreadful, for a whole bunch of reasons. Which, when that and Martha are really the only two companion returns to judge by, doesn't say a whole lot for the idea of bringing companions back.

Go rewatch "Flatline." It's delightful!

In fairness, it isn't really giving away a specific story point, like a character's death, to say that an actor is leaving a show.

Functionally, it's pretty much the exact same thing as stranding Rose in a parallel universe. Except Moffat didn't leave himself any out to unring that bell, which, judging by how Rose's return worked out, was all for the best.

I think, to Moffat's great credit, he's pretty consistent about saying that companions are gone once they're gone (other than the illusory Amy showing up in "Time of the Doctor," but that was a pretty obvious exception). So I really doubt Jenna Coleman would ever come back beyond this season other than maybe Capaldi's

I kind of agree! I think Mindwarp and Terror of the Vervoids are both pretty solid stories, though I think both work a bit better if you hear someone explain the best version of what they were going for and interpret accordingly, if that makes sense.

It's literally only about buying gardening trowels and comically avoiding the advances of London's octogenarian singles. It's amazing.

You're saying it wouldn't be delightful if they revealed that Allison Williams's character reviewed Doctor Who for The A.V. Club?

Nah, I think it's time the Doctor finally goes another round with the Terrible Zodin.
