Honestly, the day we disagree on something is the day I literally walk away from the AV Club.

Never has the phrase "Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven" been more appropriate. Or more wrong.
Yeah, but isn't this an opportunity for Fitz to explore all the other people who he could pair with to form a last name? Like, uh…some guy named Gerald!
Rob Lowe. I find it ridiculous we're even having this discussion.
We're about to record a new episode!
New episodes are a-comin'.
We're about to record an episode in, like, 30 minutes.
I make no promises.
I think Sleep Viking is referring to the one where Luann (and later Peggy) joins a sorority that turns out to be a cult. "Fun With Jane And Jane." Definitely a more effective character piece than "The Joy Of Sect," which is more of a success as a social commentary. Both really great episodes of TV.
I'm pretty unequivocally pro-political correctness, and Scientology can most definitely get fucked.
Hmm, it's working for me. You may want to shoot an email to bugs@theonion.com.
It wasn't a decision I was involved in making, but I imagine the feeling is that there's only so much one can say about the clip shows, and it's not worth devoting resources to. I just thought I'd acknowledge the Paint Your Wagon bit, which is the one memorable bit of that episode.
Yeah, it's one of the issues with having such a huge roster of reviewers. Even under the best of circumstances, we're going to end up repeating ourselves.
Maybe a better way to put it is that this is a great episode, one of the very best of season 9, and it has certain flaws that we'd more readily associate with a mid-tier episode from seasons 3-8? So the show's ceiling and its floor have started to shift downward, albeit only slightly at this point.
The only edit I've made was to change "the church" to "Fox," which was a mistyping of what I had intended to write. Everything else is unchanged from the version that originally went live.
Respectfully, I think you might be misreading some stuff slightly. This is minor, but I said 2 minutes was nearly 1/10 of the episode, not actually 1/10 of the episode — 2 minutes is still nearly a tenth of a 22-minute episode, which I was aware was the length of the episode at the time and threw in that line to…
This particular use of the "Down with PC!" argument is such an absurd non sequitur that I can only understand it as performance art. In that context, it's kind of fucking brilliant.
I mean, that stray observation about Mirkin wasn't a serious suggestion, more a comment on the scattershot nature of the sequence. And while some of the Burns digression works well, I stand by the comment that some the jokes are really loose, and clearly there to be trimmed out.
I mean, she did promise!
Oh, I didn't take it as a dig! Just thought it might be interesting to talk about what interests me as a reviewer, I guess.
