I've never seen an episode of L&O, but I guess I knew enough about it to still thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

I totally agree. I was hoping for some kind of Rob Lowe/Bradley Whitford walk-and-talk, or at least a pass in the hallway. Would that have killed them?
