I agree re: "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," especially when they had the spectacular "Leave My Kitten Alone" (another cover) ready-to-go, but omitted it.

You've Godwined this thread.

I actually like "I Talk To The Wind," another portion of the record that most people don't like, but, yeah, I'm almost with you on this.

@ Johannes Kepler: What, didn't the song have equal areas during equal intervals of time? ;-)

Okay, from this moment forward, I won't say that word again. (Well, until 2012.) People are touchy about the weirdest things.

Re: "A Passage to Bangkok": They still do that one in concert, and the song gets plenty of applause.

There's XM in my new car, and "Tom's Diner" is on at least one XM channel a truly suspicious amount of the time.

I'm kind of iffy on "Revolution 9" (there's a portion of the Atom Heart Mother Suite by Abbey Road-mates Pink Floyd that's similar, but actually enjoyable), but I have to say that "Revolution 9" is kind of a bent fractal for the album itself… an album that includes that very track, along with other information.

Rooster Cogburn is awesome. (Both the original and the new one.)

The Cars—"I'm In Touch With Your World"
The Cars—"I'm In Touch With Your World" from their self-titled album.

:-)

Yeah, I think it's pretty good. Someone ought to mash this up with "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaah."

Isn't it in 7/4 or something? I think it's possible that they were trying to be proggish; years later when I got interested in King Crimson, I thought of the Police song and realized that it either weirdly and unknowingly evolved in parallel with King Crimson's early 1980s stuff, or could've been an homage to/ satire

Yeah, I've heard both longer *and* shorter versions of that one. I also have a Beatleg of "What's The New Mary Jane" with FULL YOKO CONTENT: in response to the sounds emitted by one of the "noisemaker" objects, Yoko makes "ack-ack" noises. There's also a wonderfully horrid slide-whistle portion at about the

Revolution 9
"Helter Skelter" was in the running to be the longest Beatles song, but it was pared down. I have never heard the ~23-minute version, even though I'm a Beatlemaniac.

I've seen True Grit (2010) twice now, and have finally seen the John Wayne original (the original is very good, but I think the Coens' version is better). I pretty much share your perspective on the films of the Coen Bros.

@ Mr. Prig Re: Tears of the Black Tiger: Is the phrase "Siam Peckinpah" acceptable here? :-) That looks like an awesome movie. Level with me: is it a satire, or is it played straight?

Well, I *was* in a good mood. Sigh. My reply is that I appreciate these movies kind of like how "One" is my favorite Metallica song. Hardcore heshers insist that Metallica has done better, and that my preference for the song is superficial, but—as someone who only *sort of* likes heavy metal—"One" is the one. I

Baltar In A Good Mood: True Grit (2010) Is Likely Culprit
True Grit (2010) is great! The Coen Brothers have done an excellent job. I don't know exactly how faithful or unfaithful it is to either the novel or to the original John Wayne movie. Though there are certain westerns that I like a great deal, I'm not

There was a novelty record in the 1960s called "I'm Spending Christmas With A Dalek."
