I always thought it was pretty sad. The reason it packs such a wallop is that the series has been an interminable downhill slog since then.

One of the weakest so far.  A recycled plot (and not even a call-back to Trudy Beekman) and a lame 'celebrity' guest.

Pretty accurate assessment.  The book isn't bad, but it's not great.  Not an A- in any event.

I grew up blocks away from The Stone Pony, and Springsteen music was a part of my life pretty much from the cradle.  But the man's a joke; another rich liberal happy to spend other people's money.  And he hasn't made any decent music in over a decade.
