I'm not convinced King's advocating anything with this book. He just needs Good vs. Evil to carry on the "Lord of the Rings" borrowings. Although Felt Pelt is making me realize I was cheering for the wrong side all along.

And King himself said he pictured Bruce Springsteen playing that role in a movie version. I picture Will Farrell doing his Neil Diamond impression.

This is a book I've read and enjoyed several times…
Usually in the summer when I need something apocalyptic to stave off the doldrums! But the last time through it, a few things really began to bother me. The Incredible Vanishing Minorities for one, and the way so many of the women in the book are mere caricatures.
