@avclub-3bca94e353e508c1a49bf984fc5c346d:disqus , I'd argue that we're "supposed to like" Forrest Gump because he's a nice, humble guy that throughout the movies exceeds everyones low expectations of him, but you seem to have your mind made up on what about him appeals to the average person who liked Forrest Gump.

Different exotic fishes.

@avclub-cf4b19e32ce29fef04468ac9d2a6787d:disqus , that's a pretty retarded way of thinking

I watched the performance and it wasn't that bad, just uninspired. If Steven Tyler wasn't a women there wouldn't be all this backlash, focused mostly on how 'authentic' the artist is and her looks (mostly about her supposedly surgically altered face and lips) wouldn't exist, and she'd just be ignored.

Just for the sake of argument I'd say Forrest Gump is the better film via being more enjoyable to watch, actually standing up to repeated viewings, and not trying cram a ham-fisted political statement out of left field in the third act of the film.

I doubt you'd have as much of a consensus if it were (somehow) Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr. or (ugh) Pavement v. Kanye. Soundgarden can kiss my my black hole sun.

Even if I didn't already know, I could guess that lobsters is Republican of the angry, white, male variety by his increasingly pervasive persecution complex in everything he posts.

@avclub-751aba6c2e6c52a659661171026ceef3:disqus go to /pol/ some time and see what they think of Ron Paul. I know you're not going to do that so I'll just tell you, even on /b/ there is a large contingent of people willing to shit all over Ron Pauls already shit ideas.

Because everyone in this thread doesn't seem to realize the difference between someone who is a rapper and someone who makes beats for rappers, the latter of which is Mr. Beatz actual occupation.

AC/DC covers "Combination Pizza Hutt and Taco Bell"

You got my vote

Also why I'm rooting for Boyz II Men, to force a bunch of nerdy white dudes with no vocal range to try and cover 4 soulful black dudes

I'm hoping that "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" wins just to see what a rock band might do with it

it was a combination of the two for me

The thought of watching some bearded bro's from Brooklyn covering Maiden is what stole my vote.

I was referring to the people (AVC) who understand ratings and stuff saying several times that the ratings boost Community gets from factoring in OnDemand views and Hulu was one of the few things that made it somewhat viable.

I guaranteed if you compared the ratings of 2.5 Men and some of the most inexplicable 80's TV sitcom hits, the 80's sitcoms ratings would completely eclipse them

Any stats relating to the financial impact of pirating (positive or negative) are generally pretty dubious at best.

Exactly, this is just another placeholder for the entertainment industry having to fully embrace the new era of media. If films embraced cheap streaming/OnDemand more, or god forbid, came up with their own innovations, they wouldn't be "hurting" as much.

Seinfeld was a crossover hit, it wouldn't have been cancelled regardless. Your hypothesis assumes that Seinfeld wouldn't have gotten ratings and would've been an automatic niche hit, which is unprovable. Meanwhile I can list dozens of  quality shows that would've been cancelled, or not have had a chance if we still
