aw, shucks, Jane, I love you too

Apparently, the role was never written for anyone OTHER than Jane Krakowski, and was developed when they hired two native american writers for the show. So it wasn't a case of a native role being "stolen" by a white woman, because it was never MEANT to be anyone other than her playing the role.

I'd absolutely love seeing Laverne Cox in more. She guest starred on The Mindy Project last week, but damn that show bugs me

yeah, no, that's not acting at all. If you think thats what acting is, you definitely have a misunderstanding of what acting is.

not for nothing, but she wasn't claiming tribal heritage, both her parents are full blood, she is a lakota woman.

also just realized you meant it was set on the reservation. so disregard everything else, because it is indeed.

one of those Native American commentators here;

Lou Diamond Phillips is not and has never been native american. He's Phillipino, and part of the long history of non-native people playing native roles. the twilight films, by way of an example, cast Gil Birmingham, but everyone else was hispanic. and they actually filmed on tribal lands.

Aw, shucks

exactly… Isn't the entire point of acting to embody someone else that you are very distinctly NOT? Now, I'm not saying we should let Johnny Depp play Malcolm X or Denzel play Abe Lincoln; but straight playing gay and gay playing straight or straight playing trans and stuff… I mean, people are bitching about David

not sure why my other comments posted in response to a different one of yours, but my earlier responses were in reference to this comment

when that didn't happen, I took the proverbial gloves off and leaned on the guilt trip a little bit much. But hey, apparently guilt is the only way people understand things, right?

I really would like her to. I don't want to tear her a new asshole or anything, though i'm sure these comments make it seem like that, but honestly, i waited until the season was finished to 'go off' because i honestly believed that when it came full circle, people who had complaints during episode 3 would be able to

Hm. Do you find it interesting in a fucked up way that the storyline about Titus 'passing' was met with praise from on high? Because now that I know you are gay as butt heck, it brought that to mind, and I do find that interesting. I didn't include Titus' stuff in my above comments mostly because I hadn't seen any

I absolutely understand that

scroll down a bit and you can see my HUUUUGE "I'm a Native American, Hear Me Roar" Rant about it

fucking PREACH

seriously, while I am fully convinced that inherent "white guilt" is the only reason anyone wants to be offended by her story. I fully understand the complaints about Dong, and they have been broken down and explained to me by Asian-Americans who took issue with it.

And Jesus Fucking Christ I LOOOVE how many non-natives are taking offense to the jacqueline story.
