I didn't realize until after I posted the above, but just the way Lou and SueAnn's getting together is handled is so non-sensationalistic. I mean, two unmarried, established characters on an established, long-running sitcom hooked up, and then continued with their lives. From what I saw, it subtly changes the dynamic

Oh, well, my mistake then.

I couldn't really enjoy "The Golden Girls" for that reason - I appreciate Betty White wanting to do something different, but I thought SueAnn showed her special talents so much better. Also, to a lesser degree, I preferred Maude and Vivian to Dorothy and Blanche overall.

Even more so, to me, was how much of MTM was in NewsRadio, just…different enough. Moira Kelly, especially, had a lot of Mary Richards in her. Often while watching I'd imagine Mary doing the same thing. The comparisons were favorable, btw.

Yes - "who salts their guests' food" is answered by "who are we talking about?" What's funnier is that it's not even her dinner party. She must have been right, anyhow, since no one complained.

I have to say, Georgette was the one character that never grew on me. She wasn't bad, but maybe I just wouldn't ever have really warmed to anyone who'd marry Ted Baxter.

So true, I never thought of that. Obviously, when it was shown from the outside, it didn't have a ceiling. On the other hand, the newsroom was noisy, and everyone was always very busy, but still.

You only see (or saw) this kind of brilliance on a few shows with regularity - this one and Cheers (especially the first two seasons) are the only ones that spring to mind right away. Maybe WKRP in Cincinnati, too?

Yeah: "Suuuperman…"

"Small-Time Crooks" changed the way I felt about Woody Allen, and not for the better. I sure loved "Midnight In Paris", though. And I watched enough of "Match Point" to know I didn't like it, and turned it off.

There are many stories about her drinking. I know she's written about it, but somehow I imagined it was not noticed by anyone before that.
