i agree on the sentiment.
while advertisers usually want as broad a spectrum of viewers as possible, it means that the average sport/music-fan gets treated like 'we will bombard you with stuff you don't like and stop júúúst short of your breaking point (when you would change the channel)'

i think the trick is to go over all the extras and supporting characters in your old movie and if one of them has made it big since then you put their face on the cover and pretend their 3-second scene is the highlight of the movie

far as i heard things are significantly better for juan public in brazil and rio than, say, 30 years ago. it's just that they are in the same crisis as we all are, and are at a point where the proletariat isn't going to just bend over and take it like they used to do.

re: lucas&spielberg bitching about hollywood: both have been at the cradle of the modern blockbuster and are not exactly known for their high degree of artistic integrity.
