The movie is based on the excellent 2008 Abnett Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy series. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to get your hands on right now; looks like they are putting out a new paperback in August, though. http://amzn.com/0785190643

It isn't very consistent in the series themselves, but in Star Trek video games and other secondary material the Federation is generally portrayed as at least the size of the Klingon and Romulan Empires combined. This would make sense when you consider the fact that the Klingons and Romulans were both allied together…
@avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus and @avclub-b3fe4f5a8793b5499e143cdf1253caff:disqus Bones gives Kirk a bottle of Romulan Ale for his birthday in Wrath of Khan dated 2283, so just going by what the film tells us it has to take place after that date.
Maybe "probably better then the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man" is a bit of an exaggeration. The first Raimi movie was probably a better put together film, he mostly got the WORLD of Spider-Man right (aside from the Power Ranger villain Green Goblin), but I strongly disliked Maguire's take on Spider-Man. I liked James…
The first what, Amazing Spider-Man? It was good. Who says it was bad? It wasn't like, AVENGERS or DARK KNIGHT good, but probably better then the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man. Definitely better then the third one.
Watching a TOS era Constitution class ship tear up a bunch of Mirror Universe Enterprise era ships was the best thing that happened in Enterprise.
@avclub-bbb04f2a70775131fa0397bbdb4c03de:disqus I don't mind The Excelsior and Miranda class ships in all the Dominion War episodes. Mainly because I hate all of the starship designs that came out of First Contact. They just don't follow the Star Trek design aesthetic AT ALL!
Plus, it's fun coming up with reasons why…

Looking over the list of episodes on wiki, here are the ones that I remember 13 or 14 year old me liking way back when the show was still on air. Most of these were not at the same level as good DS9, but I remember some of them being pretty fun. Scorpion and Year of Hell come to mind.

Jonathan Hickman on Avengers. That's Marvel Now's biggest selling point for me. The man is a genius. Check out his run on Fantastic Four/Future Foundation. It's one of the best mainstream superhero comics to come out in a very long time. Even if you aren't a big fan of the Fantastic Four, if love the Marvel Universe,…

I feel like I'm watching the inhabitants of The Island of Misfit Toys become dejected as they realize Rudolph and Santa aren't coming this year.

I'm a sucker for the TMP era ships. Enterprise Refit and A, Excelsior, Reliant and the TMP Klingon Battle Cruiser. The Enterprise D and the Stargazer are really cool in my book too. I really don't like the Fist Contact ships… Enterprise E was a step down from D, Akira is overated, and all the rest are just plan ugly.…

While I don't agree with you on Voyager vs. Deep Space Nine or the quality of Voyager's fifth and sixth seasons, you probably are on to something with that theory. All three shows had Rick Berman as executive producer, and I'm sure there was plenty of cross pollination going on. Somebody brought up the…
