Does anyone else feel that perhaps the Simpsons are finally running low on gas? The story lines are getting more and more disjointed and surreal. In addition, the "Last Exit to Springfield had a LOT of dead air sequences that went on too long, as if they ran out of jokes and were trying to fill space between

"Flander's is obviously lying about not drinking for 11 years because I distinctively remember him having a beer tap in his basement; he invited Homer over one day for beer and sandwiches and Homer accused him of rubbing his nose in it!"

"Overall, I think the writing sucked bad. Lots of loose ends. Various sub-stories as usual, but they didn't bring anything together or really resolve anything. But of course there were some great lines as always. I really liked Lisa's "just screwing with your mind" at the beginning. Yet another reference to "The Fly"

"Krusty sure is reading well nowadays for being illiterate not so long ago.  He was just pounding through those cue cards on the anniversary special!  (And no one ever did justify Krusty reading after the failed Olympic promotion at Krusty Burger.)"

"Does anyone have a clue as to why the flying nun exploded when she crash landed? It seems that The Simpsons are becoming obsessed with blowing things up with no explanation."

"Okay, this is getting silly. The references are gratuitous. The plots are absurd. Homer has become a caricature of himself. What happened to the days when plots were simple and Homer reflected our own weaknesses? After all, "There's a little Homer Simpson in all of us.'' Oh well, at least Homer hasn't been

"Selma's Choice was NOT a good episode, it was a very poor one, right down there with The Otto Show.  A bunch of unrelated stories and gags just thrown together, and really sloppily crafted.  The resolution to the "main" plot (little of it there was), was extremely obvious, and yet not well executed.  The set-up was

"Where are Krusty's cattle skull birth mark and his famous superfluous nipple that we saw in 8F24?  And consider his line, "This ain't make-up" even when he clearly wiped it off in 7F18."  (Juha Terho)
