This is very correct. Beyond the weird bone exoskeleton connection the killing of the couple was shot very much in the vocabulary of that movie.

I think Ryan Hurst would make a sublime Dolarhyde. Not only is he huge and physically powerful, he can do terrifying/intense, but can also be profoundly vulnerable — all of this will be necessary to carry that arc.
