Heh, well, I'm pretty sure it's my least favorite episode of the entire series, so that should get your expectations low enough.

Yeah…. As someone who loved the book, the trailer for this movie pissed me off. I feel like it could be interesting, but not as an adaptation of The Great Gatsby (if that makes any sense). I'm usually all for experimental period pieces, but I want my F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptations to be high-minded and classy. None…

Definitely. The characters are so engaging and likable that even when the plot is a little too by-the-numbers, they can usually keep me entertained. Fringe is one of the few shows in which I think the characters are both really well-written and complex and also people that I wish I could be friends with.

That's great! If you've been enjoying it so far, you should really love the rest of the show because around halfway through season 2 is when it turns from a good, enjoyable show to a legitimately great show. The characters are definitely one of Fringe's strengths. They're flawed yet, as you said, utterly sympathetic…

Cool! I love the book as a whole, but the second half was really when I started enjoying it rather than merely appreciating it. The way Mitchell connects all the stories is really ingenious.

@avclub-68e8e6860586596c1e7a37aa64d3fba4:disqus At the beginning of the scene, I thought, "Please don't tell me he's going to clean the whole hallway", but I wasn't surprised he did. That's probably the main part I didn't like, and the 20-minute shot pretty much made up for that.

Where have you gotten up to in Fringe? Hope you're still enjoying it!

I actually have a hard time figuring out if I like The Dark Knight Rises or The Dark Knight more too. I'd probably give The Dark Knight a very slight edge just because it has so many classic moments, and I think the allegorical elements are so rich and well-done, but Rises was so breathtaking in its scope and just…

I adore Taxi Driver and L.A. Confidential as well; I'd probably say I prefer the latter, if only because it's more of a "fun" movie, whereas Taxi Driver is pretty methodical and cold, though it's been a while since I last saw Taxi Driver. I rewatched L.A. Confidential fairly recently for the first time, and I might…

That single-take scene was fantastic, probably my favorite part of the whole movie. As a whole, I thought it was a little too slow-paced (I didn't really get the point of him showing the janitor clean up the entire hallway), but it was beautifully made, and Michael Fassbender was scarily great.
