Stay with Cloud Atlas. It took a little while for me to get fully absorbed in the book, and I was also slightly confused/surprised by the abrupt ending of the first part, but don't worry, there's more to it. It all pretty much comes together in the second half.

I'm interested in seeing the original. I think the remake works primarily because of the actors, especially Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin and David Tennant; they all seemed to be having a ton of fun in their roles. All in all, it's pretty much what I want out of a vampire movie.

I kind of loved the Fright Night remake (though I haven't seen the original). It's pretty much the definition of good escapism for me. It's not groundbreaking or spectacularly made, and the campiness occasionally made me cringe, but I can think of few movies that I thought were as flat-out fun to watch as that.

Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying Fringe so far. It gets even better. (And yes, I know this is two weeks late, but whatever.)

What about a lawnmower?

Definitely read the book. It's extremely literary and a little hard to get into at first, but the writing is absolutely brilliant. Afterward, you can join us in complaining about how the movie is going to fuck everything up.

Robert Forbisher was probably my favorite character too (hi-five!). I imagined that the music would sound a little bit like the score in the movie The Piano, just a lush, vibrant waterfall of sound and feeling, as corny as that sounds. If the trailer music is indeed the score for the movie, then I'm disappointed.

Congrats! I hope you like the book as much as I did. It takes a little while to really get absorbed in it, but the second half is especially sublime. It's the kind of book that I wish I'd written.

I actually liked the reincarnation bit in the book, but I agree that judging from the trailer, they've done a really poor job of differentiating between the wildly different time periods. Even the few period details that they attempted to include (like the costumes) look overly exaggerated and kind of ridiculous,

What else did the review say? I'm curious.

I think some of the visuals in the trailer look absolutely spectacular, and I really liked the line about a half-finished story being like a half-finished love affair, but other than that, I agree that it was kind of a mess. It just doesn't look right at all, from the almost cartoonish '70s costumes to the gaudy

I think her emotional scenes in Mad Men are pretty good, though even then, she tends to be somewhat reserved. The only time I've seen her in an interview is when the cast of Mad Men went on Inside the Actor's Studio. She seemed nice enough, but pretty serious. I wouldn't be surprised if Betty Draper ends up being her
