The altitude thing is huge- Many people coming through Denver use oxygen tanks right before taking the stage, or keep them off the side of the stage and use them whenever they can sneak away for a minute.

There are many awesome bands here, but all of the big nationally-known bands have indeed made Denver the laughing stock of the US…

(unrelated) Fun Fact:  In 1995,  all of Radiohead's gear was stolen after a show at the Ogden (they were opening for Soul Asylum).  They vowed never to play Denver again.
