All I can picture when I see a review of this movie that attempts any sort of deep analysis of this movie is the "That's not that much cheese" guy from 30 Rock. Jesus people, it's a dumb movie.

I don't think it was revenge that was motivating Loras. He's out for glory. Cat summed up all those southron knights when she visits Renly's camp in book 2, saying that they are the knights of summer. It's all flashing banners and Epic Deeds to those guys.

I would love to see Kenan go, though unlike Armisen it seems like he's in even MORE sketches now. It seemed like he was in every sketch in last week's show.

I haven't read the newest ones, but that's mostly because Fool's Fate wrapped up things so nicely. Such incredible characters in that series.

I'm surprised that no one has thrown in Robin Hobb's Farseer books. The first Trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assasin, Assasin's Quest) are still some of the best fantasy I've ever read. She's added more books in the same universe but those first three were incredible. 3 or 4 of my favorite literary characters

I don't know that Robert was ever all that noble. Politics just aren't his game. He's just a guy whose interests are, in his own words, bashing skulls and fucking girls. As Ned pointed out in this week's episode if Robert had his way he'd still be fighting a rebellion.

*later book spoilers*

Missed opportunity
When Marillion notices Tyrion at the crossroads inn, it would have been a great moment for him to suggest playing "The Rains of Castamere"

Arya says that the second man "seems familiar", and later Varys presents himself to Ned in the same disguise when he pushes him to make a false confession for the sake of the realm (and his daughters)

Well, and trusting Littlefinger.

YET MORE SPOILERS

Maybe some spoilers, but really just book/show comps on stuff that already happened

Top 5, more or less in order

I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

If she were a true nerd she would have named the kid Aerith

Maybe I just can't see it then. Are the burn marks just very red on his face (I am colorblind). I was assuming that his hair was covering most of it. We haven't really had a good closeup of him yet, but I guess we will later when we establish that Sansa is scared to death of him.

The Hound
I'm a little disappointed they didn't do more work on him in makeup. Heis face is supposed to look horribly disfigured and he doesn't give a damn about hiding it.

I thought Lady's death and Arya driving Nymeria away were much more emotionally heavy here than they were in the book. But it could just be that the direwolves are more established with me because I've read the books - we haven't seen much of them on the show yet.

GRRM writes the last episode of every season. He mentioned on his blog that he's the one who has to handle that logistical mess (laughing).

We definitely won't see someone else finish the series like Sanderson is ably doing with Wheel of Tedium. Martin did a Q&A at our Borders as part of the AFFC book tour and said we're all "shit outta luck" if he dies.
