I suppose "unbalanced" is a strong word. Brown clearly did believe in his cause, witnessed cruelty against slaves that made him stand firm in his beliefs, and continually followed through on what he promised to do. The people who joined him did so of their own accord and the Secret Six who funded him clearly were at

I like Kansas history. It's an interesting mix of wild west and morality politics, both of which are still debated today. It's not my favorite era or part of history but I've grown to like it the more I research it.

I haven't seen this episode in a couple years but I remember the moment Jaye confesses to Sharon that she loves Eric to be heartbreaking, both in Jaye's expression and Sharon's immediate comforting. The sibling moments are my favorite parts of the show.

Yep, I'm in the middle of Jayhawk country lol.

Re: Ryan McGee

150 years ago last wednesday a guy named William Quantrill rode in and burned the town down. About 200 men and boys were killed. If you've seen Ride with the Devil, it's shown/referenced there (albeit from the other side's point of view).

Hey! Sorry, I haven't been on the site in a couple days and didn't get the notification. Yeah, let's keep it going. Things have been good here, but busy. We just passed one of the big historical anniversaries here in town so I was at work a crazy amount of hours last week. Things are sort of evening out now.

An "A" gets Vince Gilligan ice cream. He knows that.

After carefully considering the money New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men, and Backstreet Boys keep making by going on tours together, NSYNC has decided that this might be a good time for them to also make a pile of cash…

Christian Bale has a difficult, if not completely damaged, relationship with his mother.

That part makes me sad. I feel like Liev Schreiber should be more famous or at least taken more seriously than he is right now. His directing job on "Everything is Illuminated" was pretty good.

I was at work all weekend so I watched exactly one movie: The Jazz Singer (1927)

lol, Fair enough. I'm just happy that it probably won't get any Oscar nominations so I won't have to see it. I can't believe someone honestly cast John Cusak as Nixon.

Well if Prince Felix is running around you can't also have Rasputin be a rascal. That might be too much. I feel like Rasputin should seem like he's going to serve a purpose, or say something important, and then he just tap dances away. Rasputin is a Red Herring.

Felix Yusupov would be good although unreliable narrator. He definitely  belongs in a large scale musical. He would probably be a good sarcastic point of view for the nobility.

I'd really love to take The Shining away from Kubrick and give it back to King. Not King's miniseries adaptation, mind you. I mean, no adaptation at all. There's so much depth to the book that is just lost in any adaptation. In my opinion, Kubrick gets a lot of credit for something that borrowed the most interesting

My general feeling on The Village is that I like to pretend it ends at about the 50 minute mark (right before the stabbing).

Agreed. So few people know that Birth of a Nation was an adaptation (I didn't know it until I watched the film) and Griffith gets slandered for the book's backwards point of view. More than that, though, the film does speak to a time and place. The whole thing opens with a quote from Woodrow Wilson. Racism was not

…and now I'm sad again because I'm reminded that there is no more Fringe

Bowfinger is the last really good comedy of the 90s. Murphy handles the two character thing in a pretty understated way, Martin is in fine charming sleaze form, and the rest of the cast is fantastic. Love that film.
