Even though the way Mike died makes complete sense I'm still pretty upset that Mike died by way of a "sucker punch". It's like if a John Wayne character died while being shot in the back…on the day he retired from being the sheriff to marry the girl he loved.

What I took away from this inventory: Nicolas Cage and January Jones did a movie together? I bet that thing is terrible.

I wondered about the age then and then it occurred to me that Robert Downey Jr. has made his entire working career based on these fast-talking, witty, messed up guys. Even back in the party days, when he got roles they were generally that type. Studios just always seem surprised when Cusack has had popular movies…

The effects did look a little cheap but I think I chalked that up to the age of the film and the age of the rental store DVD.

yeah, the real stand-out comic scene is the stare-down in Pin's kitchen with his mother fussing to find orange juice in the background. It's probably more comic relief than most noir films have so it was worth the time.

Agree with your assessment of Talented Mr. Ripley. There's no way that Matt Damon could pass for Jude Law. On paper, maybe, but not in person. There's also the whole 90s portrayal of gay men that was fairly awkward and clumsy.

Have you seen Season 2 of Happy Endings? While Wayans is still the best part of the cast, everyone else steps up in a big way.

Good luck on the writing! I get that it's tough to get started. Every time I think of getting something started I remember that everyone in my regular circle of friends is either published or had a pretty successful blog. It's tough when you haven't been writing regularly.

Jealous of people who got to see The Master. The night of the screening I ended up staying awake reading twitter reactions way, way later than I should have. Everyone seems to be uniform in the "I need to see it again" reaction. I'm intrigued.
