I believe there was also a live version of "Lost Cause" on one of the Bridge School Concerts albums a couple of years before Sea Change came out, wasn't there? I know that song was familiar to me when the album dropped. I initially thought it had to be a cover.

OK, here's the official reaction to this thread from TWFS (reposted with permission):

… and the other Jackie Harris found a green and gold combo that worked and stuck with it.

Alternately, he could release a cover of "For No One."

I passed this along to him. We'll see if he deigns to return.

Nothing that generates comments is unnecessary.

They really are, but they're kind of fun to troll. I've gotten them to berate me for such varied activities as preferring Belle & Sebastian's early stuff, voluntarily paying for music and finding Heather Graham attractive.

This has always puzzled me too, but it's a weirdly common stance. I once put a few MV songs on a party mix and was roundly mocked for it by the hipsterest of my hipster friends. If nothing else, you have to admit there's some fun party stuff on that album, right?

I played it every day at my coffee shop gig when it first came out. I loved watching people try to figure out what it was. It would register on them that they recognized the voice but they couldn't quite place it. Several people guessed Pink Floyd. When they finally asked me who it was, the reaction was always the

Holy cow, @avclub-199c40dac30bbdbaa42a8d565f78c136:disqus , I've seen that episode a dozen times and never realized that video was why Venturestein made a shoe out of a dead dog. It never occurred to me that it was more than just a random item.

Agreed on all points except that it was thoroughly delightful and one of the funnier things on television.

Between the animal people this week and the multi-armed college kids last week, Doc and Jackson are throwing some major bones to the fanfic crowd this season.

I'd like to see Beavis and Butt-head viewing this show. Actually I'd just like to see Beavis and Butt-head. What's the deal, MTV?

It's hard out here for a steel-drivin' man.

I am and we don't.

That was absolutely amazing. There are characters I never would've expected to return, and then there's the sweatshop laboring kid from a 7-year-old throwaway gag.

Ventures being Ventures, I would certainly not be surprised to see the congresswoman come back in a more vital role. I mean, I'd pretty much given up on any payoff from Venturestein, and here we are.

In this incarnation, it was called "Trapped." It's a 1973 TV movie co-starring the mom from "Webster" and is mostly dull despite that can't miss pedigree.

Oh yeah, I finished watching that too. I liked it a lot, even if it was a bit less than transcendent.
