That's actually a really good point. Musical theater is meant to be silly and maudlin a lot of the time, so making fun of it is sort of pointless. It's kind of like when people do a parody of Al Pacino's "ooh-ah" or Austin Powers… you're not lampooning something, you're just repeating a joke.
