To me it felt like he was writing out of his element. He crafts great characters, but this one felt like he was reaching a bit, like the dialogue & cultural elements felt like they were written by an outsider.

I just bailed mid-attempt three to finish that one. Can't do it, and I've gladly read much of his other stuff multiple times.

I love Chabon's writing, but, ugh.

Tossed in a small amount of mayo, on a lightly buttered, grilled bun / roll. Lettuce is the only acceptable topping.
