If we consider the daughters to be main characters (I'm not sure where the line is drawn to separate main characters from supporting characters) I can easily say he's my favorite supporting character.

You're understating things… The office scene was one of the top 10 funniest scenes I've ever seen on a show. I mean, I love a good joke, I think Rodney Dangerfield is a genius and pioneer, but… something not being a joke doesn't mean something's not funny, and something not being traditional-LOL-funny doesn't mean…

While on the AVCLub you have comments like this about everybody EXCEPT Walt. And yes, it is disturbing and disgusting in the same manner. After we accept that we're discussing a fictional character in well-written realistic TV show, we're left with pages of people actively wishing to see a man die, all while…

This is the first time I've read through ALL the comments, and you're not the only one feeling this way among the people that are "rooting" for Walt and the people that hate Walt. There's a subtle clamoring that the shifts have been just a touch too sharp, or abrupt as you say.

I think this time I've read somebody say how much they hate Walt while acknowledging how silly it all might be. Yeah, and the fact that Walt didn't say any of that was the first time in probably ever that I thought the writing and characterization was kinda suspect.

And reminds every commenter of themselves. I'm no exception, I'm just one of the few embracing it, hence the lack of hate.

But are you actually supposed to "root" for anybody? Like the sports team in my area being better than the sports team in your area? Have I been doing it wrong this whole time?

I might defend him, but I'm not actually sure what I'm defending him against.
