Yeah, holy shit. It's like Fall Out Boy-era pop punk and Owl City had a grotesque bastard baby.

@avclub-c9bdbab0c40ccb86234b09fa350fbf50:disqus Yeah that was my problem exactly, but Jesus, I could not imagine the whiplash between Blood Meridian and Game of Thrones.

Yeah, I think you sort of get unfairly targeted because—I do recall—you one time legitmately not understanding what constituted as a spoiler, but since then it's been a lot of "OH HERE COMES IDIOTKING AGAIN!" which is pretty lame.

It's 1000 pages of pretty easily readable writing, though.

As far as I've been told, the books have much less nudity, so you're reason doesn't really work out.

@avclub-58238e9ae2dd305d79c2ebc8c1883422:disqus Yeah. I don't have kids, but the only time I feel I have to really read—save for the occasionally rainy weekend day—is on my commute to and from work. Yay for the trains!

I think he called it "schematic," right? The rumors I've heard, too, was that it was written specifically so he could continue writing Gravity's Rainbow.

Infinite Jest is a much easier read, I think. The "act" of reading it is never really difficult in the way Gravity's Rainbow is. I think they make really great companion pieces though, in that GR is something of the antithesis of the latter in terms of its themes. In hindsight, Infinite Jest feels like DFW trying to
