Whoa, whoa, whoa. Varmints, what are you doing? Don't let him make eye contact with you!

Yeah, pretty much this (though I sort of loathed the 2nd ep and would put it as weaker than everything else but that's a minor note). I still have two episodes to go, so we'll see how it all pans out. Right now it's sitting at a B for me, but maybe it really does all expand on a second watch.
I was gifted the Blu Ray of The Warriors but was so bummed by those stupid cartoon transitions. The worst part, though, is the opening sequence that explains the metaphor for the whole story.
The "I've never met the woman" gag was pretty damn great.
@avclub-1c40df3c355ea8b41869501850048eca:disqus I feel like watching these episodes in large chunks makes me like them way more than if I were to watch them at a slower pace.
Actually, it's definitely been done (AD would do it, but just within a single episode). As Todd mentions this is basically a more complex version of How I Met Your Mother at times—which will also go into overdrive next season since it apparently all takes place over a weekend—and Moral Orel's third season does the…
God that shit is incredible.
I don't disagree, but I really think we should retire the phrase "insists upon itself."
@avclub-6d0cbc987f0ee695ca4e8d07ecde8d7a:disqus I once thought it would be interesting to go through all of TV Club and see what all the shows were graded and which one's consistently get the highest grades and see how that correlate's to reviewer, etc but then I realized that's a shit ton of work.
I did like the Gene reveal. It says a lot how much Waters manages to sale this shit out of it. Also the "I thought he was that guy!" was great.
GOB pretty clearly says huge mistake after Ann's family piles on him.
Yeah, and I think once the dust settles around it, people will be more inclined to say "this was interesting but only sort of good." rather than tripping all over themselves to defend it (less here where I think most people have been fair then other places I've seen saying stuff like "You can't even tell it's…
I thought Krasinski playing a smug asshole worked pretty well, but I also really disliked Wiig so what do I know.
@avclub-9293e2662d706845a23fcbdd071a1f2f:disqus Just watch the Youtube clips. The movie as a whole kind of sucks.
It's really funny to me that this show—for all its faults—feels at least ten times as ambitious as House of Cards. At least AD is clearly playing with the formula and using it's release model to its advantage.
I think we all need anustart.
I don't really think it's that much denser. I think there's more overlap inbetween episodes, but episodes don't have much density in and of themselves.
Maybe VEEP got in the way.
@avclub-6d0cbc987f0ee695ca4e8d07ecde8d7a:disqus Yes. That weird roll he does (that takes just a beat too long) is fucking comedic perfection. I die laughing every time.
And Curb references too when it straight up uses the music.
