I mean, it sort of looked fake, so I assumed it was.

I dunno. I thought Wiig was just who normal say "funny" line, make pursed face expression thing she always does. Super distracting for me.

Really? I thought that moment felt deeply off for the character (who himself made cracks about Buster and Gangy's relationship) and singlehandedly got the whole series off to a super rough start.

Should note that despite what I said up above, I totally agree with this.

Honestly, a really bad idea. The episodes aren't really written to be watched standalone like that. It very much uses the "released all at once" model to its advantage.

It gets better, I think, but it never escapes feeling like its spread out too much. Episodes interconnect but aren't really complex in and of themselves.

I think it is consistent, but it's just that they filmed new scenes that take place concurrent with the old ones.

Well, there are allusions to it.

Totally. Though I think it really starts to come together later on. Enjoying it a lot more than I thought (on Ep 10). I honestly think not binge watching it hurts the show, though.

By the way she looks in these eps, I'm guessing the latter.

I wonder how far out we're going to need to get in order to give these new episodes an honest appraisal.

How would you size that mistake?

Thought those were pretty pointless. Enjoyed the cast playing themselves "younger" just by wearing wigs more.

That's my issue with it. It takes several hours to do what AD used to be able to accomplish in a single episode. It's not like each episode is dense and then that is weaved ontop of more episodes. Just feels like one stretched way, way out.

When someone asked him if features like this were why he was leaving, Scott Tobias said "No comment." Take that as you will.

With Phipps and crew gone, the New AV Club can interview and poorly grade films in whatever order it desires.

Yeah, this always happens with Africa, so it's not really D'Angelo's fault.

Basically everything I've read makes it sound like the mindless violence and genre-adherence of something like The Raid parsed through the minimal aesthetics of Refn which… GREAT!

Agreed. It sounds like it's either something that is truly bad or something that'll be reevaluated down the road. Either way, it at least sounds like something to see, so I'm intrigued. I think, somehow, the violently split reaction has me more intrigued than I would be if it was getting nothing but praise. As Mike's

I will still watch it, and I will laugh/never listen again to people I have seen say "Well, this makes me rethink what I thought about Drive…" because fuck that.
