Well probably closer to 8 because they've also stated that they flat-out think 10 seasons is too long for the show to run (and I don't really disagree), and 9 still seems pretty long. I'd be happy with either 7 or 8, really.

Well, it sounds like the plan is, somehow, S4 is the other half of Book 3, S5 is BOTH Books 4 & 5 (though I'm guessing some might bleed into 4 or 6 or something because that'd be a lot to cover) with Season 6 being Book 6 and Season 7 being Book 7.

I think it's because GRRM has told them the basic outline and would probably work with them on it if the books aren't out.

Yeah, I need to. I just haven't really had the means to legally. Thought about downloading but haven't. I could buy the DVDs but I dunno, still seems something like a gamble. Maybe now that it's on Netflix they'll add more seasons, and I'll be set! If not I'll just add the DVDs to my physical queue.

There's a stop on the A train here in NYC that used to have them (I think the "church" might be gone). Freshman year memories are full of drunken, high nights wrapping up with a read/good laugh at a Chick Tract. I don't think the guys handing them out liked me that much, though.
