"Jon is totally responsible for Viserion’s death here, right?"
I feel like sometimes folks miss much of the humor of the show. I wonder if its afrocentrism might have people mistaking it for Super Serious, It's Not OK To Laugh, Important, 0 comedy 100% Drama Television.
Hey Sam, "the ABC" has nothing to do with the american ABC network. The Australian ABC (Australian Broadcasting Coroporation) is their public broadcasting corporation, a la the BBC.
I love this column so fucking much.
Huh, I'm kinda surprised this movie is from '71. I mean, watching it, it's got 70's written all over it, but I seem to remember Dirty Harry Schtick blowing up into a big pop cultural thing sometime in the 80's. Makes sense given all the sequels, but I could swear I never heard anybody do Dirty Harry quotes until about…
The worst part of this whole thing is how it's drawn extra attention to his use of "jeah". "Jeah", or "gee-uh", or however you'd like to spell it, was a perfectly fun expression, popularized by MC Eiht back in the Menace II Society days, but now it's quite possibly going to be forever ruined by association with this…
I dunno,
@Joe Keiser
That was quite a well written review.
A long time ago Kanye tripped and fell up his own asshole. He makes interesting, ambitious albums that I don't want to listen to more than once or twice.
Hip Bop.
It was shit.
Oh, and as others pointed out, one of the worst mistakes in Death Proof seems to be the dialogue delivery. Given different direction, perhaps I would have found the same dialogue entertaining instead of annoying.
Death Proof = suck
Didn't see it in the theater. Watched the DVD with extra bits. Man was I disappointed. The dialogue and hanging out bits which Nabin found so alluring I found to be incredibly uninteresting. The dialogue was mostly clumsy, and tedious, and the characters pretty annoying.
Also great
The sound. They could have gone for classic horror scream, but didn't.
Wrong!
"But that only makes me wonder all the more why Cuaron and his DP, Emmanuel Lubezki, bothered to go to so much trouble. For most people, the shot's stunning aspects will go unnoticed. And for the rest of us—at least for me, at any rate—they're a distraction."
When I was a teenager I thought there was pretty much nothing cooler than movie gangsters.
Nice One
Good job!
"Has any movie approached these themes in a way that meets your approval? Until then, all this just seems like criticism for the sake of it."
Aw nuts.
I guess I'm glad it was made. I mean, despite sucking ass, at least it was original and ambitious.
I bet Nabin could write some entertainingly mean things to say about this movie. He's one of the good ones.
