Totally agree, but the hate for Forrest Gump is more of a reaction to the Academy's sensibilities than it is for the movie itself. Forrest Gump is a fine movie that happened to beat one of the top 5 movies of the past 30 years.

I thought American Beauty was moving and profound, but I'm told that's because I saw it when I was 14.

Forrest Gump gets extra shit because it's the establishment pick that beat out Pulp Fiction. That's its greatest sin, and I've never bought into the supposed "conservative agenda" criticism.
