Yes! I thought it was the most reasonable answer, but figured if Puccini was writing in the 20th century then it could also be Tosca (looked up, debuted in 1900).

My guess is she was worried about getting it wrong … she didn't look excited about having two $2000 clues knowing one was a DD. If she'd gone big and missed, then Manuel would have been within two thirds and Julia would need to get Final right to win.
I was skipping the contestant interviews for her first week or so … did we already know she has a BA plus a Masters in engineering?
Or maybe they're thinking (A) thank goodness there are people I can beat making it onto the show and (B) the longer it takes Jeopardy to call, the more time I have to study.
Whenever someone finds the DD with such a low score I hope they ask for a True Daily Triple, but I don't think it has ever happened. Missed opportunity.
He was on a couple weeks ago and Hardwick kept talking about TL's non-winning streak … then Steve Agee won.
Now I'm wondering why nobody guessed Georgian Bay or anything else George-y. Did they all know that George IV wasn't Victoria's father?
According to the j-archives, this was the third time Aeon Flux has been a Jeopardy answer, but The Maxx has never made it.
I don't think Alex would have accepted my "Moscow and the capital of North Korea … it starts with a P. I know this!"
Me too!
Recapping Tuesday's Final for my wife: "I could not figure it out. The clue was 'This 1951 novel …'"
Her: "The Catcher in the Rye."
Me: "Fuck you."
Usually it's three months.
And I had it recommended to me during a Jeopardy audition last year.
Last fall I read Bob Harris' Trebekistan book. Has anybody else read it? He doesn't use his friends' last names, but it is pretty obvious to an AVClubber that Danny from "a show about a teenage girl fighting vampires" is Buffy's Jonathan, and one of the show's writers, Jane, is Jane Espenson.
You do!
I misread the final clue as the first element, and was so proud I could still get all the way to #20 potassium (K). Silver made no sense to me until I rewound. At least I wasn't the only one having an off day.
I'm currently in the contestant pool.
Never played D&D, but I am on the edge of my seat when Sark's rolling to see if anyone can grab Amarth before he falls, and again as Blackie fails strength and intelligence checks as their ship crash lands in Glinishmore.
Starring Tyler Labine? And cancelled during season 1?
Plus she won $10k on a Daily Double, then Ben finally lost to the third contestant. Such a good game!
Yep, Thursday's final she wagered 1777 and she bet 7111 in her first game (I have j-archive.com open in another tab).
