I thought they had a point with the 60s thing in the beginning of the season, but I'm not quite sure I buy it in the last few episodes.

Shirley went on to sign it first not even thinking of Pierce and Pierce had a knee-jerk reaction. The reaction didn't seem out of character to me based on the entire Hawthorne Wipes incident and his general character.  It's not that he doesn't have moments of compassion, but his initial reaction is often similar to

They reach quite a bit with some of the clothes commentary as well, but I still enjoy it.  Joan's fur moment was truly an OMG moment that I don't know if most people caught.  It was obvious, but not if you don't have a decent memory?

I don't think it's at all forgotten.  He was not going to stop Shirley from actually being in charge of the shop, he just wanted to be the one who was legally the owner.  (I do think a part of this is also also Harmon as Shirley and Sony as Pierce, but I would rather not go there.)
