Geneva? Oh gosh, it's going to be a scene of nothing but Hamilton references. (Calling it now: "Ms. Pine, were you or were you not in the room where it happened?")

I wanted more fallout on that! I mean, *we* know the NSA has been following every plot development for multiple seasons, but Alicia doesn't.

Man, this was a good Alicia-Peter episode. Not in the sense of a shipping episode, but in the sense that you really see how their marriage has worked despite their immense flaws. There were many telling moments, but I especially liked when Alicia agrees to use Zack and Grace for the press, and Peter rejects it. Over

Is that all we get of Holly? The way the episode ended, it seemed very final, but I feel like you don't cast Megan Hilty for one scene only. Maybe they just needed to squeeze in one more gratuitous musical theater cameo?

It was fine. Scale is not quite right—should be either broader or smaller and more character-based.

I propose a Vanessa Williams exchange between this show and The Flash. It's all CBS, so it should be fine.

I assume she's working for her mom full-time? She's not that much younger than Zach. I don't know. I get the feeling the show doesn't care about her arc anymore, but they like her/her actress, and they like the idea of Alicia running a firm out of her apartment so Grace just kinda fits in.

What if next episode is Diane, Alicia, and Lucca fighting over Kelly Bishop? And then Robyn and Elsbeth show up and it's all just a bottle episode with them being witty for an hour? BRB, fanfic to write.

Yeah. Even though this wasn't a super-great case-of-the-week, I don't think it was Diane that was the problem. It's more that the show's current structure makes Diane and Cary feel insignificant even when they're on-screen.

There's a real irony in Godly Grace scoring her mom a bunch of pro-choice clients.

Anyone else feel like the writers think all Christians know a crazy ton of bible verses from memory? This season, we've had Grace, Ruth, and now Courtney do recitations off the top of their heads. It strikes me as a false note, which is weird because often this show tries to get the religion stuff okay.

Speaking of whom… Next week Diane meets Emily. Some episodes are cast specifically to meet my needs.

Best Exchange Ever: "I'm a much calmer person now." "Oh my god, that's a terrifying thought."

The age difference was waaaay too much for me, but I did like Eli having to deal with race- and class-based tensions that he otherwise avoids in his professional life.

I know, but TGW doesn't have a great track record for introducing interesting new love interests.

Totally. The reviewer seems happy to just see them in the same room together. We should not be at a place where merely having the regulars interact is itself cause for rejoicing.

Jason's supposed to be sexy, and we're supposed to want him and Alicia to be sexy together, I know—but can he at least fix his hair first? It looks so gross I don't want anyone touching it, least of all our hero.

If this Vanessa Williams character goes anywhere interesting I'll be stunned, but I really enjoyed her as an audience-surrogate for the sham birthday/real engagement party.

She was a regular on a CBS sitcom called The Millers. I didn't watch it, but it was on for a couple years.

Margo Martindale is doing such good work on this show! Ruth is sharp and sly, but she doesn't have the same coldness and stiffness that most other folks on this show do. Her movements are a little less restrained, her clothes look more comfortable, she smiles more easily. She feels like a real politico who has to get
