Um, my point is not that Harmon shouldn't have expected this, but that he is clearly not the milking this. He is apologizing because he should, and somehow gets shit for that too, which just strikes me as asinine.

Well, I'm basically just adding to what you were saying.  It's kind of a rhetorical question.  The simple answer is that they're just dicks.

Oh well, I don't think anyone would argue against the fact that Harmon is demanding (perhaps unreasonably so), nor would they argue that he didn't deserve to get fired.  But I don't think it necessarily follows that he somehow has a terrible relationship with his past and current writers or that he cultivated such a

@avclub-f121d09285898f1c66d66f1e6f0455a6:disqus What makes it half-hearted exactly?

I have to ask, what is it that compels people to make their "contrarian" opinion known to everyone else at every opprotunity, especially in the least productive manner (glibly and self-importantly)?  I understand not like Arrested Development S4 or Community, but…that's clearly not the popular opinion here at the AV

I'm pretty sure if Harmon could've avoided people taking his dumbass remarks and posting it all over the internet for the sake of page-clicks while sparking some pretty lame outrage, he would've.

This is true, although I don't think it applies to Dan Harmon in this situation (and maybe you didn't mean it to).

The apologetic/explanatory Tumblr entries by McGathy and Harmon indicate that Harmon is basically a flawed human, like the rest of us.  But most of the people in the article basically think of Harmon as the world's most arrogant, egotistical, megalomaniacal monster, and one even took the opportunity to attack McGathy

And my respect for the AV Club commentariat continues to drop.

Not even if you end up getting shit on yourself?

This is certainly news to me.  Somehow I like both New Girl and Community.  But yeah sure, I can see how this situation called for insulting generalizations about a fanbase in order to establish a false sense of superiority.

I wouldn't think too much of it.  Apparently, people who are down on Community feel the need to say so at every opportunity, as if that retroactively makes past episodes of Community unenjoyable.

Is the Superman/Wonder Woman romance working out?

You should really get that compulsive digital masturbation issue checked out.

But seriously, tell us how you really feel about Harmon.

That's true, but I don't see how that applies here.   He's not really shitting on his bosses here.  He's shitting on actual content of Season 4, which if you remember, Sony was actually interested in recording.  And also consider that this wasn't in anything like an interview or press conference, but in an obscure,

Yes, well that's the problem, isn't it?  It's a bad and offensive joke, but by ripping it out of context, readers have a pretty incomplete and inaccurate picture of Harmon, especially those who for whatever reason take his words seriously, as if he actually thought of himself as a genius, much like how Lena Dunham

The same audiences and awards that year in, year out reward Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory for mediocre efforts?   You could say the same about quite a few other beloved shows here on the AV Club.

You could consider an impression as a type of referential humor, but this feels like a very clumsy attempt to shit on Harmon.
