I have a feeling that it might have been a matter of pride for the DS9 cast/crew. Like, having the show be all "OK, we have a proper war, things are getting serious, bring in the TNG actors!" might have seemed a little shitty for everyone involved in the series.

I hated it. I think the DS9 theme can be used as an insomnia aid.

I think they oversell "Kira doesn't play by the rules!" a bit too much in the early episodes (The next one is a problem as well), but she was fine when she mellowed out near the end of the season.

The whole "Debate" part is kind of iffy, and probably has Brooks' worst acting in the series as a whole (the scene with him on the beach is downright painful), but the plot thread does go somewhere, at least. They're way ahead, but "Accession", and especially "Rapture" took the whole prophets storyline and actually

I think my greatest fear in life is for me to die like this while listening to something really, really embarrassing

I didn't HATE it like I do with some other infamously bad episodes (I can't wait for the review of "Luxury Lounge"), but it just kinda sticks out as kind of a weird, aimless episode in a pretty focused season. Might have worked better in, say, Season 2, when there was less of an emphasis on an overarching plot going

"I’m also dropping the grades, at least for this season, because looking
at the list of episodes, I don’t see a single one I’m even lukewarm on."
