Advantages Sanders has over Trump are that Sanders would pre-empt most of Trump's appeal to white working class.

Trump could lose by a sort of a ricochet effect: the voters may not like the alternative, but they hate him more. Not sure that applies if the alternative is Sanders.

Yes he would be, but for different reasons. Assuming he wins the elections (which would be impossible*, tbh), none of his policies would stand a chance in Congress. And if by some miracle they do pass, the economic costs would be pretty dire. You can be plenty destructive even with the best intentions.

To be clear, he's not the same person as George R. R. Martin.
