Another movie Mann messed up was "Last Of The Mohicans" on DVD. The director's cut lost a bunch of good lines and added some unnecessary ones, especially at the end. The Blu-ray version is much closer to the theatrical one - it's the "Director's Definitive Cut" edition after all. So exhausting. I wish he'd just leave…

The plantation scene in Apocalypse Now Redux is ingeniously written, gorgeous to look at, and has a haunting power that stays with you. It also adds absolutely nothing to the film. The part with Kilgore whining about his board being stolen nearly ruins it.

One of my favorite rock anecdotes is from when Dylan was recording "Slow Train Coming" with Jerry Wexler producing. Dylan was ranting about Jesus and how Wexler needed to be saved. Wexler said "Bob, you're dealing with a sixty-two-year-old confirmed Jewish atheist. I'm hopeless. Let's just make an album."
