Maybe it was just the tip.
Bond after Fleming
Keith, have you (or anyone else here) read any post Fleming Bond novels? I guess John Gardner wrote the most, but there were others. I always kind of wondered if any of them were worth reading.
A Very Special Episode request
Noel, I think others have made this request but, I'll go ahead and make it again. How about AVSE installment on Married With Children? I think the show is actually kind of misunderstood in that it's smarter and more self-aware than a lot of people give it credit for. I'd love to see…
Hmmm…
Is this anything like that "Black Orifice" movie I saw?
The Golden Child…
…is probably where the cracks started showing in his career. Based on this clips it would seem like this could in fact hold the coveted title of worst Eddie Murphy movie ever. Something I thought would forever rest with "Beverly Hills Cop III".
Indeed.
Fate of Nations
I'm glad you think "Fate of Nations" is underrated. I tried getting into both "Manic Nirvana" and "Now and Zen" and neither of those albums clicked for me, but I think "Fate of Nations" is a great example of how a former arena-rock golden-god can age gracefully. I can do without his cover of "If I…
I believe the second unit director was a glue sniffer.
I'm not an electrician, but how can you be using electrical equipment that is covered in/resting in a pool of soda and not get electrocuted? You know. Sooner or later. You would think.
Twilight Zone
My first exposure to him was in "Twilight Zone : The Movie" and he honestly freaked me out even more than the twisted cartoon creatures or the sister with no mouth. His face was just so contorted and terrified and he could come unhinged like nobody's business.
Spike is one of Snoopy's brothers. He's skinny, has a mustache and a hat and lives in Needles. His only companions are a cactus and a tumbleweed.
Etbyrd - Yes it was. And FWIW I wasn't really being at all serious in my above statement. I haven't read enough stories about either of them to make the comparison.
The Sub-Mariner vs. Aquaman
The Sub-Mariner is good.
Hooray for silent films!
I saw a newly restored (I think) print of "Sunrise" in June and it was the best movie I saw this summer.
It's weird how shocking the ending is. I mean, it's not like you don't see it coming, but the scene when she gets burned is just brutal.
But it's not normal to have the extra in the car during the filming of a dangerous stunt. I feel like there's some information missing in this story because even for a jackass like Bay there has to be a basic understanding of film stunt safety. This just sounds idiotic.
Eddie Murphy
I don't want to jump the gun on Nathan's upcoming "Pluto Nash" MYOF entry, but there was a time in the early eighties when Eddie Murphy was the funniest motherfucker on the planet. I mean you could make a solid argument that he was the most successful comedian of all time.
Drew = good?
I'm kind of surprised by how charming I find Drew Barrymore. Part of me keeps thinking I shouldn't like anything she does and yet I really liked "Music and Lyrics" and I even thought "My Date With Drew" was strangely endearing. Both largely because of her presence. I'm not saying I'm going to see this…
Hang your head in shame.
