I think you've all hit the nail on the head with those flashbacks at the end. They were probably there to remind more casual viewers (I guess like myself since I haven't gone back and watched any of the episodes again. Yet.), but they worked better on an emotional level. Seeing Jack, Kate and Locke from season 1

I was thinking the same thing, Chico. Although it doesn't make sense that they would choose an actress who looks like she could be Welliver's mother since her character isn't related to him. But I guess it did add a bit more emotional resonance to the whole episode.

But they've been alluding to this mysterious energy source for a long time now. We just haven't seen it close up. And I think electromagnetic energy is just a byproduct of whatever is in the cave. In any case I don't really think that it's being introduced late in the game. They've been trying to understand and

Yes, Staircar. Well done.

Dean Koontz?
I've only read "The Door to December" and it didn't really do much for me. You seem to be suggesting that he's actually worth reading in comparing him to Philip K. Dick. Is this true?

You're almost out of books. What are you going to do next?

I've mentioned this on some other thread, but I have a weird relationship with "Dreams". I used to be bored by that song and change the station whenever it was on the radio, but at some point the lightbulb came on and I realized what an awesome, mellow song it is. I could just listen to it over and over on an

KCRW
I used to love listening to "Morning Becomes Eclectic" before my work schedule got in the way. Along with the late, lamented "Jonesy's Jukebox" it was one of the two things I miss most about not listening to the radio anymore.

Simply Red
I'm not trying to break up your marriage, Chris, but you're right and your wife is wrong. "Holding Back the Years" is a freakin' great song.

Not to mention Thin Lizzy. It's hard to play air guitar and drive at the same time, but somehow I manage. Don't judge me. You try to listen to "Chinatown" and not play air guitar. It's impossible.

Pretty much anything by America should go on that list, but especially "Tin Man" and "Ventura Highway".

Dead Reckoning
Be sure to check out "Dead Reckoning". It seems to be an overlooked Bogart noir, but it stands up alongside his best. Love the use of the incindiary greanades in the bad guy's office.

"How bad is it going to suck to be a west coast viewer on finale night?"

Yes, of course I mean "Star Blazers". For some reason as a child I paid more attention to the theme song than the words on the screen so when I heard them sing _our_ star blazers I misinterperated that as _All_ Star Blazers and in my mind that was the name of the show and it stuck.

David S. Goyer
He can write good pulpy dialogue when he wants to.

Bonzo Goes To Bitburg

Nostalgia
It's not that I disagree with Noel's assesment of Saturday morning cartoons in the 80s, I would just personally find it hard to trash them because I loved them so much when I was a kid.

They're also Scandinavian. Persians are Scandinavian.

Lost doesn't always do sentimental dialogue very well ("Looks like somebody found her voice"), but they almost always have a way with emotional camera work/shot selection. The shot of their hands drifting apart, the hole in the sub and then the sub itself sinking into the dark said more than any cheesy "Poesidon

Ahhh, Wacky Packages
I didn't have a lot of them, but I had the book to put them in and I really wish I still had them today. Going to their website brings back some memories.
