Glad to see so much love for "A Perfect World". It's pretty much tied with "Unforgiven" as my favorite Eastwood movie. I used to think it was his most underrated movie, but after seeing this thread and this primer, maybe the people who like it just need to talk about it more.

Warren, I didn't live in Long Island, but I remember watching Uncle Floyd from my days in New Jersey. I still remember Uncle Floyd's puppet (I don't remember his name) eating Floyd's donut because he misread a sign saying "Do Not Eat" as "Donut, Eat". Also their parody of "Purple Rain" entitled "Acid Rain". They

DIAMONDS! THE PERFECT GIFT!

That's a good list, Pepe, but you forgot Crazy Gideon. For non-SoCal people he's basically an Eastern European version of Crazy Larry. His thick accent and generally out-of-it demeanor made his half-assed rip-off hilarious to me.

No, no, no, noooooo! Sorry. If that link doesn't work, try this :

This Is Serious
I lived in northern New Jersey for four years in the mid/late 80s and I still hear this song in my head on a regular basis. Apparently it comes from some Long Island local government concern, but it played where I lived. These little pills are just adorable.

Yeah, you can still see him around midnight. No animals with him anymore, though.

That was scary
For a minute there I thought the box had caught on fire or something.

To me he'll always be Elaine's therapist. And how did I not realize he was Hollis Mason in "Watchmen"?

Yeah, but she looks like a dancer from Juilliard. Like she smokes cigarettes and reads books and stuff. Not like the girls in those 2Live Crew videos.

That was indeed my mistaken assumption. I kind of knew that rappers reused the same hooks and beats that other people had used and added new lyrics, but I thought a word-for-word reproduction of someone else's lyrics was taboo.

Not that I doubt you, but I was trying to think of some prominent examples and coming up blank. Anyone?

Hip-hop covers?
I'm no hip-hop expert, but isn't it kind of a no-no, or at least unusual, for an MC to do a cover of someone else's song?

Still, kudos on whoever was rockin' the steadycam. That was some really nice camera work.

Sandwich?
Why is Betty wiping her tears with a half-eaten sandwich?

I love how Jughead is wearing hip new clothes (for 1985) and yet is still rockin' the hat that was popular with kids from the 1930s.

I hope it runs at least as long as the actual show. It's certainly more entertaining.

Mamet movies are full of great quotes.

Are you quitting on me!? Then quit, you slimey walrus looking piece of shit! Get down off of my obsticle! Get the fuck down off of my obsticle! I am gonna cut your balls off so that you cannot contaminate the rest of the world!
