Bluebeard
Since everyone else is throwing out non-Universal horror movies, I'll throw out one, too. I stumbled across the 1944 "Bluebeard" through Netflix and was pleasantly surprised. It's got elements of "The Phantom of the Opera" combined with a portrait of a serial killer. John Carradine's performance is creepy

It's not straight up horror, but the Hammer version of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" with Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes is fantastic. It's actually pretty spooky and the scene at the end when the hound is revealed is bloody and freaky.

While we're at it, I don't think the Apu Trilogy is available on DVD, either.

Nice Alt Text
"Ya got any of those Wet Ones?"

I don't want to sound like a whiney asshole…
…but I will anyway. In the future, when there's a big geeky movie coming out and you know a lot of people are going to want to comment on it, could you wait until the day the movie opens wide before you post all of your articles about it. I understand running the actual

TV Version
Has anyone seen the 1997 TV version? Is it any good? The fact that it's directed by William Friedkin makes me curious.

When you say "titanic jugs" do you mean that they're really big or that they were in the movie "Titanic"? Because I like Kate Winslet's boobs as much as the next person, but they're not exactly on the scale of Wendy Whoppers, or anything.

Since I've only seen her in bits and pieces of "Smallville" I'm willing to accept the seemingly universal opinion that Kristin Kreuk can't act. But sweet-baby-Jesus-in-a-manger, I really want to intercourse the living socks off of that girl. Phel, there must be some actor who blinds you to their terribleness with

Tits, that's my favorite scene from one of my favorite movies. The slow motion shot where Dr. Edgemar takes a bullet is just gnarly.

Paul Verhoeven mentions "Total Recall 2" on the commentary for "Total Recall". Apparently the psychic mutants on Mars would go on to become the precogs of "Minority Report". I don't know if that's from Dick's stories or something they made up for the possible movie.

"Running Scared" is definitely overlooked. And Vadim, I think you might be looking too hard for subtext. I mean, I thought it was just about desperate and depraved people racing around and shooting the living fuck out of each other. I didn't get the feeling he was trying to send a message.

One thing kind of bugs me with that dynamic in "Conscience of the King", though. Why didn't Kirk just tell Spock what he was up to? It's not like Spock would have told everyone about Kirk's suspicions and ruined his chance at exposing Kodos. If anything Spock is the one guy you _can_ trust to keep a secret. And he

To add to what MPBC said, it looks like the Wolfmother cover is a recreation of that Frazetta painting ("The Sea Witch") and apparently Frazetta's sons make money doing recreations of their dad's work. But maybe it's the other way around, I'm not sure. In any event I personally like the Eerie cover better. The use

Here are some genuinely disturbing and beautiful horror comics :

Here's your sample.

I guess I'm kinda stupid because I actually enjoyed "The DaVinci Code" (the movie, I haven't read the book, nor will I). The premise behind it is absolutely ridiculous and even though the movie takes itself pretty seriously, I didn't take it any more seriously than "National Treasure" or "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Movie Version
Do you think you can post the Foolproof Letdown-Avoidance Method (Movie Version) before "Watchmen" comes out?

Definately see it. It's the rare kids movie that doesn't condescend to kids.

I AM THE SUPER MOTHER BUUUUGGGGG!!!!

Ebert
Also, I miss Roger Ebert doing red carpet interviews. He actually asked interesting questions and knew something about movies which cut through the red carpet cheese nicely.
