Just out of curiosity, what's meant by Boondock Saints for women? Like, it's the epitome of what a womany woman would want in a movie?

Don't forget the holding up a glass of either scotch or vodka.
That's fair. I definitely am not opposed to analyzing films. I just don't like the type of analyzing that Sam talks about or the type that tries to state definitively what the answer is. And I also think that, for certain films, like this one, trying to solve all of the mysteries can ruin a little bit of the effect of…
Not always. In the case of the film in question, I have no desire to know much more about what the answers to decoding the film are supposed to be. The visceral experience of the film is more of what matters to me, the immersion in a barrage of images and one of the best sounding films of the year, then in trying to…
Is Paul McGann officially out? Because I still thought there was a chance that the 8th Doctor could still make it. I know 9 is out, due to Christopher Eccleston refusing to want to ever come back to Doctor Who.
Do you have any other Silverberg novels to recommend? This was a really damn good book and I'd like to know what else I should keep an eye out for. And thanks about the DMing. If I try it again, I might want to try it for a different RPG where I've memorized the mechanics inside and out, just because I still had to…
It's great to see you back again. I've been missing you here. And you are making me excited about season 3, which did have a good pair of episodes to start it off. I've already accidentally been spoiled about events that happen between Mai and Zuko in season 3, but I'm okay with this since it points to something that…
Yup, as soon as I saw the Newswire posting last month about them losing the Nickelodeon shows at the end of this month, I did go into overdrive about finishing up Avatar. At the rate I've been watching them, I should have it finished by sometime next week. Then I can start watching Babylon 5.
@avclub-5e5e0bd5ad7c2ca72b0c5ff8b6debbba:disqus No, my school did different actors for each act. It was felt that we needed to try and allow as many students to act as possible. I was lucky in being cast in the very last one, where it's the daughter's wedding day but she's locked herself in the bathroom. The role of…
Any particular part you're hooraying? Or was my week as a whole just that superb? Looking below, I'd say seeing E Buzz decked out like the 11th Doctor is hooray worthy. Especially if he was wearing the fez.
This was a pretty solidly good week for me. There is a tiny bit of pressure building up at my job, as the Pathology department is preparing for a site visit that will be coming next week. The little things that I've had to do for it are now building up into an even more intense set of folders to be created and try and…
Thirding The Matador. Very enjoyable.
To clarify, Planes is not actually a Pixar production. It was done by the division of Disney that does the direct-to-DVD material and is being put into theaters. The only connection it has to Pixar is just by being in the same world as Pixar's Cars.
Well, the difference, as I understand it, was that Toy Story 2 was meant to go direct to DVD and not be done by Pixar before they got control over it. Planes, again from just my understanding, was a completed film that was meant for DVD and was, at the last minute, penciled in for a theatrical release at the beginning…
Also, Lake Bell's In A World… is supposed to come out at the beginning of August and that sounded like it'd be a really funny little film.
Yup, later this month as well, over Memorial Day weekend.
I now see it was there, but somehow on the second page and not in release date order, so it's still getting shafted a bit.
The Lone Ranger, getting the shaft! Burn!
It's coming out May 31. I think it just didn't get mentioned because it's starting out in a limited release. The Playlist saw it at Sundance and gave it a good write up. It looks pretty good. Anything with Nick Offerman has to have some merit to it.
@avclub-ba9fab001f67381e56e410575874d967:disqus That's this Saturday. I'll give a report on it when the Pop Culture Weekend thread comes along.
